Factiva Expert Search

On the Search Builder page, select Factiva Expert Search, and you will obtain a hierarchical menu of pre-built search strategies.

Click on the "i" next to the search topic and then you can visualise the whole search strategy, which isn’t just a few industry codes.

Factiva Expert Search can be used to search for climate change, such as in this example:

• hlp=(climate change or global warming) and ((atleast3 climate change or atleast3 global warming) or (greenhouse near5 (gas or gases) and greenhouse near5 (effect$2 or affect*))) and rst=tmnb and wc>600 and la=en
• It is possible to limit the search to the title or the main paragraph, using the “atleastn” and “nearn” operators, and then truncate the search with several options and next use the word count operator.

Note: you can use Factiva's Query Genius button to help detect errors when creating a complex query, which can be found in the top right corner.
