When quoting or paraphrasing a specific part of a source, it is important to include detailed information in the in-text citation.

This involves mentioning the author, the date, and specific details, such as: page number, page range, paragraph number, section number, table or figure number, and chapter number.

 

Example:

Page number:

  • "The study revealed significant improvements" (Silva, 2020, p. 23).

Page range:

  • "The data analysed points to a positive correlation" (Silva, 2020, pp. 23-24).

Paragraph number:

  • "The findings are consistent with previous studies" (Silva, 2020, Para. 6).

Section number:

  • "Data collection was carried out in several stages" (Silva, 2020, Section 4.2).

Table or Figure number:

  • "The results are shown in the table below" (Silva, 2020, Table 5).

Chapter number:

  • "The literature review covers various theories" (Silva, 2020, Cap. 2).
